Poster Design "altonale 19"
My submission for a poster competition for Hamburg’s culture festival altonale. The theme was 'space', so my illustration is all about habitat, connection and a peaceful coexistence.

I chose a tree as the key element (because where would we be without trees?) and I wove a world full of explorers, adventurers, dreamers and sleepyheads around it – from the deep sea to high above the clouds. And with a lot of bees in between, because without them we’d have a bit of a problem, too. So let’s hope the angler fish is friendly and just wants to play.

Work Process
I thought I’d create a video to give you a glimpse into the various steps this project went through. From crappy pencil and ink sketches to Photoshop for a rough layout, then back to pencil and ink, followed by Adobe Illustrator for vectorizing and editing and back to Photoshop for adding colour and texture.

Textures
All the textures I use in my illustrations are handmade. I use a variety of paints to create them, including acrylic paint, gouache and water-based lino inks.
